Car crash INjuries, WHIplash

Omaha Whiplash and car accident injury specialists.

Whiplash

Whiplash is a neck injury due to forceful, rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck, like the cracking of a whip. Whiplash is commonly caused by rear-end car accidents. But whiplash can also result from sports accidents, physical abuse and other types of traumas, such as a fall.

Whiplash Sign and Symptoms

Both our doctors have advanced training and certifications for Car Crash Injuries

  • Neck pain and stiffness.
  • Worsening of pain with neck movement.
  • Loss of range of motion in the neck.
  • Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull.
  • Tenderness or pain in the shoulder, upper back or arms.
  • Tingling or numbness in the arms.
  • Fatigue.
  • Dizziness.

How do you know if you have whiplash or not?

Loss of range of motion in the neck. Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull. Tenderness or pain in the shoulder, upper back or arms. Tingling or numbness in the arms. Foggy brain or cannot think straight like there is a fish bowl on your head.

This biggest mistake people can make is waiting to seek care. Many times the injury will progress and take longer to heal from if left.

A very common myth people believe is the amount of damage to their vehicle must be significant for an injury. This is NOT true. As little as 2-3 mph bump from behind can create an injury, studies show. Another fact, is women are twice as likely to be injured than man.
