Find Relief From Post-Concussion Headaches with Expert Chiropractic Care

If you’ve suffered a concussion, persistent headaches can make daily life exhausting. At the Omaha Headache Clinic, we specialize in treating concussion-related headaches by addressing the root causes in the neck and nervous system, rather than just masking symptoms with medication.

Our goal is simple:

help you recover fully, regain focus, and live headache-free again.

What Are Concussion Headaches?

A concussion headache is a type of post-traumatic headache that occurs after a mild traumatic brain injury. Symptoms may appear immediately after the injury or develop days or weeks later. They often feel like:

  • Headache or “pressure” in head.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Balance problems or dizziness, or double or blurry vision.
  • Neck Stiffness or base of skull pain/pressure
  • Bothered by light or noise.
  • Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy, or groggy.
  • Confusion, or concentration or memory problems.
  • Just not “feeling right,” or “feeling down”.

Unlike regular headaches, concussion headaches often indicate underlying issues with the

cervical spine, nervous system, and posture.

Why Concussion Headaches Happen

When the head experiences trauma, several factors contribute to lingering headaches:

  1. Neck and Spine Misalignment – Whiplash or impact can shift vertebrae in the upper cervical spine, irritating nerves.

  2. Nervous System Disruption – Concussions affect nerve signaling between the brain and body.

  3. Muscle Tension – Neck and shoulder muscles tighten to compensate for the injury, creating pressure on the skull.

  4. Postural Strain – Forward head posture and poor alignment after injury can prolong symptoms.

At the Omaha Headache Clinic, we evaluate all these factors to create a customized recovery plan.

Concussion Headache FAQ

Please reach us at tereshelj@hotmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A concussion headache is head pain that develops after a mild traumatic brain injury. It can appear immediately or days later and often feels like pressure, throbbing, or brain fog.

Headaches develop because the impact disrupts normal brain and neck function. The neck often becomes misaligned or strained during injury, irritating nerves and muscles that refer pain to the head.

Most resolve within a few weeks, but some last for months. If a headache continues beyond 14 days, structural issues in the neck are often involved.

Yes. Correcting the upper cervical spine reduces tension on the nervous system, improves blood flow, and speeds neurological recovery.

Most are not dangerous, but persistent or worsening symptoms should be evaluated. Ongoing headaches often indicate the neck hasn’t healed properly from the injury.

Common symptoms include:

  • Head pressure or tightness

  • Light and sound sensitivity

  • Dizziness

  • Neck pain

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Fatigue or brain fog

Q: Are concussion headache

A concussion makes the brain more sensitive to visual stimulation. Additionally, forward head posture while using screens increases neck tension and triggers headaches.

We review your injury history, evaluate posture and neck alignment, examine neurological function, and often use digital X-rays to assess structural issues.

At the Omaha Headache Clinic, treatment may include:

  • Upper cervical adjustments

  • Posture and mobility retraining

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Light, movement, and breath therapies

  • Customized recovery plans
